Reflection

It is my perspective that an effective instructional leader and administrator is one who ensures that the learning environment of the school is being managed effectively. A learning environment manager keeps abreast of effective teaching practices, curriculum changes, and progress toward ongoing school improvement by controlling the learning environment in which students learn. By monitoring and participating actively in the classrooms of the school, the administrator is able to establish relationships, rapport, and expectations with the teachers, all of which will contribute significantly to the development of the school's instructional environment. The administrator must be a leader who is willing to take the initiative and demonstrate the instructional expectations for teachers when the situation calls for it. Because administrators are more involved in classroom activities, they are better able to regulate the learning environment.
